About Us
The Saturday League evolved originally to give an opportunity for league competition to people who were unable to commit to midweek evenings.
The standard has varied a lot down the years, but at present our Division 2 would be at or slightly below Leinster Division 6 standard, so it can also serve as a stepping-stone for aspiring Leinster League players. Division 1 players generally range in standard from Leinster Division 3 to Division 6 – we would not normally allow players of a higher standard than Division 3.
There is little travelling – nearly all clubs are in Dublin, the furthest away being Skerries. There is no separate women’s league at present but women are welcome to play in either division.
There is also a cup competition in both divisions. The Saturday League is very informal but still competitive, and prizes are awarded to the winning teams. Prize-giving is on cup finals day which is usually in April and is followed by a great social evening. Teams are of five people, and the entry fee stands at present at €125 per team.
